Which Martial Art is for me?

Posted on March 17th, 2017 by Rich in Martial Arts Tips & Training

I have been a fan of the martial arts for a very long time. I studied Tae Kwon Do when I was younger and was in a karate school and class for about three years. Now with the popularity of MMA, martial arts is at an all time popularity high and it is through MMA that so many different martial arts are exposed. Still, when it comes to the martial art that is for me, is no doubtedly Tae Kwon Do.

Tae Kwon Do is all about self defense. It is ingrained in a student’s head from the very first lesson that they take that the martial art is not being aggressive but about disciplining yourself and knowing how to defend yourself if you are ever attacked. While some fighting styles teach the right way to attack someone, Tae Kwon Do is all about learning how to defend and counter attack in the case of an intrusion.

Tae Kwon Do is the martial art for me because it teaches to keep a focused mind and learning and knowing the respect for the art. Another big reason that I embrace Tae Kwon Do is that it was founded and developed by none other than the martial arts icon himself, Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was a strong proponent of discipline and most importantly respecting others. It was Lee that developed the art and it is he who made Tae Kwon Do what it is today.

Tae Kwon Do is the martial art for me because it instills respect, not only for others but for your own self as well. That is why it is the martial art for me.
