The history of martial arts goes back a very long time. Its early origins can be traced back to the acient Chinese and Japanese armies and the fighting styles that they used in combat. Over the years, more and more styles were added and defined and thus brings what martial arts is made of today.

One style that can contribute its origins to acient armies is muay thai. Muay thai is all about using the points of the hands and feet as weapons. It was said that the Thai armies were very skilled at hand to hand combat and watching them fight on the battlefield was something of awe.

Fighting styles such as Tae Kwon Do and Jeet Kune Do can be attributed to the teachings and foundings of top notch martial artists. The legendary Bruce Lee was a forefather of Tae Kwon Do and Jeet Kune Do. With these styles he was able to incorporate himself into the art and to this very day both styles are used and studied all over the world.

The history of martial arts is one that is long and treasured. It is the respect for this history that is expected of all martial artists. Although there are styles that have originated from all over the world, the bottom line is that they deem respect and someone who has knowledge of the martial arts is a person who is disciplined. The good thing is that with the popularity of martial arts, that history will live on for a very long time.
